The Vassie Rajah Foundation was established to continue the remarkable legacy of Mr Vassie Rajah, creating opportunities through education, healthcare, sport, and community development while inspiring lasting change across South Africa.

Our Story

Carrying Forward a Legacy of Service.

Named in honour of the late Mr Vassie Rajah, the Foundation was established by his family to carry forward a lifetime of service to education, sport and community development. His unwavering commitment to uplifting others continues to inspire every initiative we undertake.
Today, we collaborate with public and private sector partners to support disadvantaged communities through programmes focused on education, healthcare, poverty alleviation and youth development.
Guided by the values of humility, dedication, teamwork and leadership, we remain committed to creating opportunities that empower individuals and strengthen communities for generations to come.

Mission

At The VR Foundation, we are committed to empowering communities by unlocking the potential of young learners through education, sport and health initiatives. Guided by the values of humility, dedication, teamwork and leadership, we work to develop meaningful programmes that honour the legacy of Mr Vassie Rajah, who said:

“Treat a person as he is, and he will remain as he is, but Treat him as he COULD be, and he will become what he SHOULD be.”

To transform disadvantaged communities, we will collaborate and partner with other private and public sector stakeholders who share our mission and vision.
We will engage in fundraising and event coordination exercises to promote education, sport, poverty alleviation and health in Pietermaritzburg with the aim of expanding our programme initiatives to the rest of KwaZulu-Natal.
