About Us
Making the World a Better Place For All of Us
About Us
Named after the late former principal and educator at various Pietermaritzburg schools, and sports representative as an official, coach and player, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands area, Mr Vassie Rajah, the foundation was established by his family to continue his legacy and work in the surrounding community.
Vision
To transform disadvantaged communities, we will collaborate and partner with other private and public sector stakeholders who share our mission and vision. We will engage in fundraising and event coordination exercises to promote education, sport, poverty alleviation and health in Pietermaritzburg with the aim of expanding our programme initiatives to the rest of KwaZulu-Natal.
Mission
At The VR Foundation, we recognize the need to support and empower communities by harnessing the potential of young learners in local schools. Grounding ourselves in the principles of humility, dedication, teamwork and leadership, we pride ourselves on the development of important youth programmes in education, sport and health and we do this in memory of a legacy nurtured by the man who inspired the foundation – Mr Vassie Rajah, who said:
“Treat a person as he is, and he will remain as he is, but Treat him as he COULD be, and he will become what he SHOULD be.”
